How You Can Feed Fear A 'Suck-It Sandwich'
Do you feel a crippling fear behind the decisions you are currently making with your health? (if you do, you’re not alone)
And let me be clear….it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.
Because fear and anxiety (which I consider one in the same) are both side-effects.
They are not diseases.
Tony Robbins says that you cannot feel fear or angerin the presence of gratitude.
And beit that November is National Gratitude Month…
I want to let you in on a little secret about how you can beat Fear, Anxiety and Anger with Gratitude.
I tell my clients all the time that Anxiety = Fear + Opportunity
Which inherently means that there is something to be grateful for in your anxiety.
So if you’re feeling anxious, nervous & scared Identify the opportunity.
And write out 3 positive things that could come from it.
This is an exercise I’ve used at Inner Strength for years with my clients who are very anxious about starting their weight loss journey.
Sure they could possibly self-sabotage…but they have their weight loss coach to call them.
Sure they could hurt themselves…but our programs are all no impact and we have a DPT on staff to help.
They also fear they could just not get results….but weight loss is just math really, so that’s not possible if they follow the plan.
But The Opportunity is that they could
- Never have to deal with chronic knee pain again so they can play on the ground with their kids and grandkids
- Feel energized and excited to wake up and take on their days again.
- Love who they see in the mirror again.
- Live their Happiest and Healthiest Lives
- Get a promotion because they’re so motivated
- Ride their bike again, garden again, play pickleball again
The list goes on.
But it all starts with Gratitude for the Opportunity to make it happen.
Unfortunately fear of the opportunity itself is the typical first reaction…but when you lean into that, you are capable of so much more than you are currently displaying.
We have this button in the gym that when you press it it says this…..
“Feed Fear a Suck it Sandwich”
Gratitude is just that.
